Dirty denim to be put to environmental test

The Bendigo Sustainability Group is looking for all things denim.Pre-loved jeans, skirts, shirts and jackets will become part of a dirty denim exhibition to be staged in Bendigo next year.Sustainability group members Verity Lougoon and Tamara Marwood are working on the project, which is seen as a way to raise awareness of the environmental impact of the textile and fashion industry. They are both textile artists with a passion for sustainability and are looking at the project as a way to combine both.“It will be an exhibition and a series of workshops where we will collect and recycle denim clothing,” Ms Lougoon said.“We will be investigating, reclaiming and recycling textile materials.”Ms Lougoon and Ms Marwood are looking for any type of denim clothing to be used in the exhibition.Donations can be taken to Design Port in Bendigo.
