The $71 shot fended off imported galloper Dal Harraild in a thrilling finish to the $350,000 event.
Kiwi stayer Sir Charles Road ran a close-up third.

Red Alto has always promised to win a good race after it ran fourth in the Victoria Derby as a three-year-old.
He was aided by a brilliant ride from Michael Walker.
From one of the outside barriers, the star hoop guided Red Alto to just behind the speed set by Happy Moment and Dandy Gent.
Dal Harraild moved to the front at the top of the straight, but Red Alto and Walker had enjoyed a softer run and they ground home to beat the Ciaron Maher-trained stayer by a narrow margin.
Red Alton was the biggest priced winner since Napier Street scored an upset win at 40-1 in the 1997 Bendigo Cup.
It was Stanley and Walker's second win of the day after they combined to win with As it Lies earlier in the day.
