TUESDAY: A man aged in his 40s remains in a seriously ill but stable condition in The Alfred hospital.
He was suffering from facial burns and was transferred from Bendigo Health after paramedics treated him at the scene for smoke inhalation.
MONDAY: Fire has landed a person in hospital with burns and claimed an early-model Holden kept in the garage of a Strathdale home.
Firefighters were called to the home in Weatherby Drive about 11.30pm on Sunday after an occupant returned home and found smoke coming out of the garage.
Bendigo CFA senior station officer Mark Nevill said it took firefighters about five minutes to bring the blaze under control.
But a 1970s Holden was lost in the fire and the garage ceiling collapsed.
One of the occupants, a man in his 40s, was assessed at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation before he was taken to Bendigo Health with facial burns.
Bendigo Health said the patient had been transferred.
Mr Nevill said there was also some smoke damage to the adjoining home, but it would remain habitable after cleaning.
The cause of the fire is not known, but there is no suggestion it is suspicious.
