Works on the Kimbolton Foreshore Rejuvenation Project will begin in April with a focus on upgrade Lake Eppalock’s popular western shores.
The project has been made possible thanks to a $600,000 package from the State Government and $100,000 from the Victorian Fisheries Authority.
New picnic facilities, signs and landscaping are included in the project as is the replacement of the public toilet block.
Solar lighting will also be installed at the lake area while upgrades to the Kimbolton carpark and boat ramp, installation of pre-launch preparation zones for vessels and new recycled plastic bollards will be completed.
“These works not only significantly improve recreational facilities for local communities, they help to attract visitors from around the state and support regional development around Bendigo,” Member for Bendigo West Maree Edward said.
The project is a joint initiative between Goulburn-Murray Water, the Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
“The (State) Government recognises that waterways such as Lake Eppalock are fundamental to the health, prosperity and social fabric of our Bendigo and surrounding communities,” Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said.
