Of the seven BDCA captains surveyed on the outcome of this weekend's grand final, four selected Strathdale-Maristians to add another chapter to their dynasty, while three picked Sandhurst to break its 39-year premiership drought.
"I'll pick Strathdale to win only because they've been there and done it before,'' Bendigo United skipper Leigh McDermott said.
"I get the feeling it's going be a very close grand final because Sandhurst is such a dangerous side."
White Hills captain Mitch Winter-Irving, Kangaroo Flat skipper Brent Hamblin and Golden Square captain Ben Gunn tipped the Dragons to get over the line.
"I think the QEO will suit Sandhurst because they have three or four spinners they can rotate at Strathdale,'' Winter-Irving said.
Hamblin and Gunn said the toss of the coin would be vital.
"Batting first will be crucial, particularly for Sandhurst,'' Hamblin said.
"Sandhurst's batting depth could be the difference in what could be a high-scoring grand final."
"If Sandhurst can bat first and post a score of 230 plus then I think they'll have the bowlers to defend that on the second day,'' Gunn added.
"There's not much between the two teams... they're hard to split."
Bendigo captain Shane Koop saw Strathdale first-hand in the semi-finals and has backed the Suns in to win the flag.
"Their grand final experience will hold them in good sted,'' Koop said.
"They have so many players who can impact with bat and ball and they're so prepared for the big moments in games. That will help them get over the line."
Eaglehawk skipper Cory Jacobs echoed Koop's thoughts.
"They (Strathdale) just know how to win in pressure situations,'' last year's premiership captain said.
"I think Strathdale is the better overall side."
In a grand final where the two sides are so evenly matched, perhaps Strathfieldsaye captain Ben Devanny had the mot logical reason of all to select Strathdale.
"Strathdale because they have Ben DeAraugo,'' Devanny said in relation to the Suns' skipper's outstanding grand final record.
Huntly-North Epsom captain Elliott Massina was unavailable for comment.
