Waterhole will offer an afternoon of live entertainment, community dance, in-water circus performances in and around the Newstead pool and community hall.
Entertainment includes acrobatic ensemble Asking For Trouble, a caravan filled with compliments by musician and community artist Rose Turtle Elter, blue grass trio Petal and Pet and children’s band The Itchy Scabs.
Newstead Primary School have prepared a street parade featuring music and puppets.
The idea for Waterhole came from the Regional Centre for Culture consulting with communities and identifying water and local pools as issues close to small town’s hearts.
The Newstead and District Swimming Pool is a key asset in this community and is managed by a volunteer committee. Newstead (like many other small towns) has some 40 volunteer committees, which run the kindergarten, CWA, arts hub, swimming pool and more.
Waterhole will be held at the Newstead pool and community hall on Saturday, March 3.
The day will start with a Dja Dja Warrung Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony.
