David Macauley from the Bendigo Mountain Bike Club said it was not uncommon for mountain bikers to come across rubbish dumped illegally along the track.
“We ride through the bush a lot and there’s always rubbished dumped, whether it be mattresses or rubbish in general,” Mr Macauley said.
“It’s quite common, just not as blatant as it is with all these hard materials.”
“But this was a bit bizarre in the way it looked, it’s as if someone had cleaned out a house of all its appliances.”
The illegal dump was found along the Goldfields Track between Spring Gully and Kangaroo Flat, close to where the track crosses Kangaroo Gully Rd.
“It was a bit weird to see it all sitting there,” Mr Macauley said.
Mr Macauley said he had first seen the items on Thursday night and that the location of the dump had easy access from an asphalt road onto the dirt track.
Anyone with information about illegal dumping is encouraged to report it to EPA by calling 1300 EPA VIC (1300 372 842) or via the website www.epa.vic.gov.au.
