But showers are developing and there is a high chance the city will see rain in the afternoon and evening, and possibly a thunderstorm.
Similar conditions are expected around Echuca, where the forecast maximum is 39 degrees, although the chance of rain is slightly lower.
Maryborough and Castlemaine are in for a humid day, both heading towards a top of 36 degrees.
But those towns too can expect a mostly sunny morning, with a high chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm later on.
Redesdale is heading towards a top of 37 degrees, with a medium chance of showers.
Meanwhile, Kyneton will have cloudy morning, but sunny breaks in the afternoon.
The town is forecast to reach 34 degrees, and can expect a medium chance of showers.
