Bendigo United has made a habit of collecting silverware over the past two decades winning six BDCA flags and last year's T20 premiership.

The Redbacks' opponent White Hills hasn't tasted success at first XI level since 1993 and will make its first appearance in a T20 grand final.

"It's exciting for everyone at the club that we're in a grand final and any silverware would be nice to get a hold of. We're looking forward to it,'' White Hills' skipper Mitch Winter-Irving said.

After struggling in T20 cricket for the first few years of the competition, the Redbacks have been superb the past two summers. 

"In T20, guys probably play with more freedom, particularly with the bat,'' Bendigo United’s Leigh McDermott said.

"We seem to enjoy that freedom and we've played some really good cricket... hopefully, we can replicate that in the final."

White Hills will again have marquee player Brayden Stepien open the batting.

The Carlton left-hander made the most runs in the competition this season, 181, with 136 of them coming in one innings against Eaglehawk.

His Carlton team-mate Tom Smyth won't play for Bendigo United. The Redbacks' marquee player is unavailable because of work commitments.

McDermott said the Redbacks would be foolish to focus too heavily on Stepien.

"We need to get Steppo out early, but at the same time White Hills has Mitch Winter-Irving coming off a 200 on Monday,'' McDermott said.

"Gavin Bowles is a quality cricketer in his own right and they have other players who can go hard.

"White Hills aren't to be underestimated."

After narrowly missing the T20 final the past two seasons, Winter-Irving said the Demons had matured this summer.

“We understand  the game better and we’ve been able to get over the line in difficult situations,’’  Winter-Irving said. “We’ve taken our chances and we’ll need to do that again in the final.”

The T20 final will be played at the QEO from 7.30pm.
