Police have seized a van found just streets away from Monash Medical Centre, where a man suffering a gunshot wound was dumped on Saturday afternoon.

Police conducted tests on the van on Sunday to confirm it was the one used to transport the man to the hospital.

No further details about the van or its owner are available.

The gunshot victim, a 35-year-old Ballan man, remains in hospital but his condition is not life-threatening.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said the man was left outside the hospital in Clayton Road.

"The man was dropped off there in a van which then drove away just after 4pm," she said.

"The yet-to-be identified man is being treated for serious but non life-threatening injuries."

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
