City of Greater Bendigo tourism and major events manager Terry Karamaloudis said it was a tradition to welcome in the new year with a bang and the annual fireworks displays were enjoyed by hundreds of people.
“The city is once again pleased to present the two fireworks displays from the Rosalind Park poppet head and I encourage residents to gather at various vantage points around the CBD to enjoy the display,” Mr Karamaloudis said.
But onlookers were warned about laws prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in public places inside the area bounded by Don/Myrtle Streets, Barnard Street, Water/Baxter Streets and Bramble/Mundy/McLaren Streets
Mr Karamaloudis also asked people to secure their pets during the fireworks with the displays renowned for frightening animals.
