Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks, of Bendigo Highway Patrol, said the driver was travelling south along Sutton Grange Road when they failed to negotiate a sweeping bend near the intersection of Axe Creek Road about 11am.
The vehicle veered off the left-hand side of the road and into a tree, before rolling down a two-metre embankment.
“The car crash caused a fire on the side of the road,” Senior Sergeant Brooks said.
The fire spread into a nearby paddock, burning about two hectares of land.
“The car was also incinerated,” Senior Sergeant Brooks said.
He said the driver – a woman in her 20s – was out of the vehicle before the fire started.
She was assessed by paramedics at the scene for cuts and abrasions and complaints of back soreness
Ambulance Victoria transported the woman to Bendigo hospital in a stable condition for further assessment.
