That has been the past two innings for Bendigo United’s marquee player Nicholas Ross – a Carlton Premier Cricket player – in the BDCA’s Twenty20 competition.
Huntly-North Epsom felt the full brunt of opener Ross, who clubbed a superb 109 to lead the defending champion Redbacks to a six-wicket win on Tuesday night.
Chasing the Power’s 5-150 at Harry Trott Oval, the Redbacks cruised to 4-151 in 16.2 overs to improve to 2-0.
Ross’ strike rate was more than 200, with his 109 coming off just 52 balls and featuring 90 runs in either fours (15) and sixes (five).
Ross’ whirlwind century came a week after he had been bowled for a golden duck against Bendigo, while he’s the second Bendigo United marquee player to make a century in as many seasons after Tom Smyth made 100 last summer.
Earlier, Huntly-North Epsom’s marquee player, Adam Ward, was the Power’s top-scorer with 57 off 51 that included eight boundaries and two sixes.
The Redbacks are the only undefeated team in Pool 1 after three rounds.
• White Hills is now 2-0 after defeating Strathfieldsaye by 14 runs under lights at Tannery Lane.
The Demons recovered from 2-13 early to post 6-154 after winning the toss.
Skipper Mitch Winter-Irving (49 off 41), Ollie Geary (37 n.o. off 27) and Michael Peters (27 off 26) were the leading contributors with the bat for the Demons.
The Jets were restricted to 4-140 in their chase.
Veteran Greg Lyon carried his bat through the 20 overs, finishing 51 n.o. off 58.
The defeat leaves the Jets with a 0-3 record and the only team in the competition yet to win a game.
