Schools have been practicing and working on their vehicles all year ahead of the four-day event.
Teams work throughout the year to design, build and test vehicles or machines within detailed specifications.
The weekend was warm but competition on the track at the RACV Energy Breakthrough was hot at the weekend.
Races were fiercely contested with schools and drivers eager to take the chequered flag.
Teams will race for 16 hours over the weekend with staff and parents monitoring the students’ well-being from the pit lane.
This year also saw a team from the Northern Territory taking part for the first time.
