CFA members will be on hand at a number of meetings across the region in coming weeks, helping residents plan what to do in the event of a fire.
The fire danger period began in the City of Greater Bendigo on Monday, meaning no fires can be lit in the open air without a permit or meeting certain requirements.
CFA District 02 operations manager Bill Johnstone said the meetings would give residents a greater understanding of what to include in their fire plan, such as checking on vulnerable neighbours or arranging someone to pick the children up from school.

“Please come along,” he said. “It’s important the community understands its risk and its environment – and more importantly what to expect on high fire danger days.”
At fire ready and street corner meetings, residents can speak to CFA members about topics such as how to stay informed if a fire starts and threatens your property, and tips and updates to help you start or review your fire plan.
Bushfire planning workshops run for three hours and help residents develop fire plans with hands-on guidance from the CFA.
