Scary chic: best dressed from the Met's Halloween bash

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, famous for its annual gala hosted by Anna Wintour, hosted its inaugural Halloween bash - and it was every bit as fabulous as you'd expect.

Although Halloween officially falls on October 31, the party was held at the museum on Thursday night, New York time, with a star-studded line-up who pulled out all stops in the spooky department.

Wendi Deng, ex-wife of Rupert Murdoch, led the scary parade, donning Day of the Dead-inspired make-up and a gold headdress, as she attended the party with her partner, 22-year-old Bertold Zahoran, who's 26 years her junior.

While most of the starlets are used to frocking up flawlessly for the red carpet, some of the celebrities at the party were practically unrecognisable in their freaky get-ups. Here are our favourites.

Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls

Not even Victoria's Secret could make these two look more simultaneously vampish and cutely dressed as a cat and mouse.

A little game of cat and mouse last night ????

Jessica Chastain

We had to do a double-take at the dual Oscar nominee, whose contact lenses gave her icy blue eyes that are, frankly, downright scary. If they ever want to do a remake of Ice Queen, they know who to call.

Wendi Deng, and daughters Grace and Chloe Murdoch

If there was a "squad" award for the night, these three would win. We're still getting over how much 14-year-old Chloe looks like her father, Rupert Murdoch.

Nicky Hilton Rothschild

Apparently ol' Nick pulled out her wedding shoes and bag, so bonus points for #30wears. Looking like a prom queen about to turn nasty, she went for pretty over pretty scary.

Halloween has come early ????

Shanina Shaik

Did the Victoria's Secret model and David Jones launch alumnus miss the memo? Shaiky looks like she has just turned up in her pyjamas, so perhaps she thought it was a slumber party, not a Halloween do. Still, she looks perfect, as always.

Night at the met ???????????
