MOVE along, cars – today, a stretch of Williamson Street is reserved for dancing and play.
The street is closed from Lyttleton Terrace to Hargreaves Street until 2pm, as FunLoong Fun Day gets underway.
Instead of the usual traffic, the space is filled with performers, a basketball shoot-out with the Bendigo Spirit, a jumping castle and stalls.
The excitement extends the length of Hargreaves Mall, where there are more stalls, performing spaces, archery, face-painting, LEGO play, a photo booth, and animal displays.
Mary Sullivan, of Scope, and Kim Mammoliti had a prime position from which to be part of the action.
Stationed opposite the stage in the mall, they were fundraising for Scope with the sale of fruit kebabs.
Nearby, the Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club was cooking up a storm on the barbecue.
Members of the Dragon City Derby Dolls were skating around to promote their new Quad Fit initiative.
Bike Bendigo members were also in attendance to offer bike and scooter riding tips.
Cheerleaders, the Central Victorian Lion Team, Indigenous Hip Hop Group and the Rrrrockets were among those entertaining the crowd.
The FunLoong Fun Day is a free event celebrating National Children’s Week and Bike Palooza Bendigo.
The event runs until 2pm. Adult supervision is required.
