Senior Constable Nick Hakes from Bendigo police station said the 67-year-old male was headed north along Olympic Parade when he suffered a medical episode and confused the accelerator with the brake.
The car travelled over the kerb, narrowly avoiding a parked car. He then clipped the corner of a house and crashed through its side fence, coming to rest in the next door neighbour’s driveway.
Ambulance officers assessed the driver at the scene, but he appeared uninjured.
“It’s very fortunate no one was hurt this evening,” the senior constable said.
He asked those with unwell loved ones to discuss their fitness to drive.
