The woman, in her 40s, was walking along a bike path on Eaglehawk-Neilborough Road just after 6.30pm on Tuesday, March 28, when she was attacked.
She suffered extensive injuries to her arms, back and stomach during the attack and was hospitalised.
The dog squad was in the area during an operation in the nearby Howard Street, Jackass Flat. The woman was not connected to the operation and the bike path was not included in police road blocks.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police said this week the investigation into the “incident” had been completed.
“No action will be taken against the Victoria Police member in question,” the spokesperson said.
“Police will continue to provide assistance to the woman and her family.”
