The first burn will take place in Gunbower State Forest at Rifle Butts Track, about five kilometres north of Cohuna.
Forest Fire Management Victoria acting Murray Goldfields district manager, Adrian Parker, said the 15-hectare burn was in a priority area for risk reduction.
He said it would provide protection against bushfires coming from the north-west.
A 14-hectare burn will also take place in Waanyarra Natural Conservation Reserve, near Tarnagulla.
“These burns aim to reduce the speed and intensity of future bushfires,” Adrian Parker.
“This is important work because smaller and less intense fires have less chance of growing to a size that will cause damage to communities and property.”
FFM Victoria firefighters will continue to patrol the burn sites in the days following the burns.
People who experience any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure should seek medical advice or call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24.
