A slow start and an inability to consistently close down the Capitals’ offence hurt the Spirit.
The Capitals jumped out to a 22-12 lead at quarter-time and by half-time the margin had been extended to 15 points.
The Spirit launched a brave comeback to get within nine points at three quarter-time.
Howeve, the effort took its toll and, when the Capitals unleashed a 13-4 run to open the fourth quarter, the result was done and dusted.
Star forward Kelsey Griffin led the way for the Spirit with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Import Betnijah Laney added 19 points and five boards, while Nadeen Payne had 13 points and Rachel Banham 10 points.
The Capitals had five players score in double figures – led by Abby Wehrung with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists.
