It is not a lead driver who boasts the double as many might guess, but rather co-driver Warren Luff.
He won the inaugural edition alongside Craig Lowndes and repeated the effort with Garth Tander in 2016.
So when Scott Pye signed with Mobil 1 HSV Racing for 2017, he was quick to ensure Luff would be alongside side him for the Enduro Cup.
“When I first signed for the team last year, he was one of the things I wanted locked away with me as well. It really gives you that co-driver security thing to get that locked away early,” Pye said.
“It was important to get Luffy signed away early last year which meant we could start working on our enduro prep as soon as possible.”
While Luff and Pye are a new pairing, there are nine which remain the same as last season. One of those is the Brad Jones Racing entry Tim Slade shares with Ash Walsh.
Last year they placed seventh in the Bathurst 1000 and Slade’s happy to have him back.
“Ash did a really, really good job last year, he was one of, if not the best, co-driver. It’s been good to have that continuity again with Ash this year, we don’t really have to change anything,” he said.
“He’s been racing in the GT category this year in the Audi and even though it’s chalk and cheese to a V8 Supercar, at least he’s been getting some miles in.”
