Macedon Ranges Highway Patrol members came up behind the man travelling on the Cobb & Co Road at Carlsruhe at 6.40am today.
The officers clocked the Kyneton man in his 50s travelling at 142km/h in a 100km/h zone and he also tested positive in a roadside preliminary breath test.
Back at the station, the man blew 0.123 and had his bike impounded for 30 days.
Leading Senior Constable Bruce Slimmon said the man had been drinking the previous night and thought he was fine to ride.
“People have to be aware how much they drink the night before,” he said.
“And doing 142km/h in a 100km/h zone on a cold spring morning is not the best idea.”
The man will also be summonsed to court in relation to the two matters.
