Bendigo songwriter Steve Lane is preparing to launch a new solo album.

While not under the banner of his band Steve Lane and the Autocrats, the troubadour had his bandmate’s help through the recording process.

The new album – The Revenge of the Lawn – is a more stripped back sound for Lane who created the album with the help of Bendigo poet John Holton.

“His words are phrased like songs and it doesn’t take much to manipulate them into the song,” Lane said.

“There is an amazing level of trust between us. We see things so similarly and I don’t take that lightly at all.”

Steve Lane will launch his solo album at the Golden Vine on September 16 from 8pm. Entry is $5 or $10 with an album purchase.
