The 12.11 (83) to 8.8 (56) defeat was the Pioneers’ 10 loss in a row and left the club with a 3-15 record.
Greater Western Victoria’s ability to use the breeze to advantage proved to be the difference between the two teams. The home side kicked five goals to none with the breeze in the first term and five goals to one in the third quarter. That left the Pioneers trailing by 40 points at three-quarter-time and, despite having the wind at their backs, they never really looked capable of reeling in the Rebels.
Lochie O’Brien, Brent Daniels, Kane Farrell and Darby Henderson were the Pioneers’ best four players.
