Herbert fired round of 68 and 64 to be eight-under for the tournament, three shots behind winner Matthew Millar.
Herbert’s second round six-under par 64 catapulted him up the leaderboard of the $22,000 event and lifted his confidence ahead of Thursday and Friday’s $25,000 Maroochy Pro-Am at Bli Bli. Fellow Neangar Park product Andrew Martin will also play in the Maroochy Pro-Am.
Meanwhile, the Central Victorian Veterans golf event scheduled for Tuesday at Neangar Park has been postponed because the course is too wet.
