Rolph, 22, has taken to the court in four games for the Spirit over the past two seasons, with coach Simon Pritchard confident she can play a strong role for the club.
“Ebony is a player we think can play a big role in the future of the Spirit and basketball in regional Victoria and we are proud once again to have her suit up with us,” Pritchard said on Thursday.
“Ebony missed a lot of last WNBL season with a finger injury, but when she returned she was one of our best performers on the track.”
Rolph is playing with the Geelong Supercats in the SEABL where she’s averaging 10.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
“I’m grateful I’ll have another chance to prove my worth at the Spirit,” said Rolph, originally from Portland.
“Being able to play basketball and stay close to home is really important… country kids have never had that chance before, especially if they dream of playing at the highest level.”
Pritchard says developing regional Victorian players – like Rolph – is one of the Spirit’s key goals.
“We want every girl playing basketball in regional Victoria to want to play with the Spirit one day. The importance of that pathway can’t be under-estimated,” Pritchard said.
