Rising 11-year-old Sea King and rising 10-year-old Wells took care of the new generation of jumpers in the Brendan Drechsler Hurdle and Mosstrooper Steeplechase respectively.
Sea King continued his stunning form at Bendigo with his third-straight feature jumps win at the track.
The Patrick Payne-trained jumper won the Mosstrooper Steeplechase in 2015 and 2016 and he added the Brendan Drechsler Hurdle on Sunday in gutsy style.
Despite carrying topweight of 70kg, Sea King outstayed Two Hats and Hornets Nest to record his 19th career win from 66 starts.
It was also a milestone win for jockey Brad McLean.
The veteran hoop celebrated his 150th career win over the jumps.
Wells’ win in the Mosstrooper Steeplechase was just as impressive.
The Kathryn Durden-trained stayer ran down star jumper Zed Em in the shadows of the post.
Wells had previously placed in the Brendan Drechsler Hurdle in 2013 and 2014 and ran third in the Mosstrooper Steeplechase last year.
Sunday’s victory proved the gelding is on track to record its third-straight Grand Annual Steeplechase in Ballarat next month.
