More than 30 members will rattle the tins at the Alexandra Fountain on Saturday from 8am to 4.30pm.
Golden Square lieutenant Bryan Greenwood said the funds were valuable to the brigade.
“Anything we raise will go to a new vehicle. But we are also hoping to raise money for other operational equipment,” he said.
“Last year we raised between $7500 and $8000. We would definitely be happy to get near that again.”
The brigade has also applied to the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program which will match every dollar Golden Square raises with two dollars.
Lieutenant Greenwood said crew members enjoyed getting out and talking with the community.
“We deal with a lot of different people from a lot of backgrounds, so getting to explain what we do is great,” he said.
“Some tourists from overseas can’t understand that we are volunteer firefighters.”
