UPDATE 8.10am: SES crews were kept busy last night after a storm hit Bendigo.
Bendigo SES media officer Bec Maskell said the service was called out to 10 jobs on Monday night, mostly for trees on roads causing traffic hazards.
There were also a few cases of building damage at Sedgwick.
Ms Maskell said the most challenging job was the removal of a 14-foot trampoline from a roof at Kangaroo Flat, which took a couple of hours.
She said this highlighted the importance of people securing loose items in their yards in wild weather and recommended that people tie down trampolines with the aid of star pickets.
However, there were few call-outs for water damage, Ms Maskell said, which was hopefully a sign that people were heeding the message to clean out their gutters.
She urged motorists to drive to the conditions and take care on the roads, being careful to watch out for debris.
EARLIER: More wet weather is forecast today, after parts of the region saw hail, localised flooding and lightning yesterday evening.
SES crews worked to respond to the storm damage overnight, with the wild weather causing at least one crash.
Bendigo SES media officer Bec Maskell said crews were called to incidents scattered all over Bendigo from Junortoun to Kangaroo Flat.
Marong SES took to Facebook just after 2am to urge people to take care.
“With a large number of trees down over roads, please take care this evening/morning if you're out and about. After an event like this, even the most familiar roads can have changed significantly.”
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded just 3.8mm of rainfall in Bendigo from 9am on Monday to 6am today – 3.8mm in Redesdale, 6.6mm in Malmsbury and 4mm in Charlton.
More rain is forecast today, with the chance of a thunderstorm late this afternoon and evening and possible hail.
Bendigo Sergeant Rosie Rowe this morning encouraged people to take extra vigilance on the roads.
“We encourage people to give themselves that extra five minutes when they are getting ready in the morning to let their cars defrost,” she said.
“Driving behaviour is important as well.”
Sergeant Rowe urged people to drive to the conditions.
Bendigo, Maryborough and Redesdale are headed for a top of 12 degrees; Castlemaine 11; Kyneton 9; and Echuca 13.
