Among 10 additions to the Pioneers squad following the completion of the Futures Rounds are the Vic Country quartet of Kane Farrell, Bailey Henderson, Angus Schumacher and Brent Daniels.
The build-up to Saturday’s match included a “mini mid-season camp” being held on Thursday for the Pioneers squad.
“It was a chance to bring the squad in together for the whole day,” Pioneers coach Rick Coburn said on Friday.
“We trained on the QEO, went down to Healthy Mates, did a leadership session at Girton Grammar, some ten-pin bowling and went out for tea. It was a good opportunity with the boys on school holidays to get together and spend a bit of time with each other.
“They really only train and play together and don’t get a lot of opportunities to socialise, so Thursday was a good chance to do something a bit different.”
Saturday’s round 13 clash will be played at Trevor Barker Beach Oval from 2pm.
The Pioneers have lost their past four games to be 3-9 and 10th on the ladder, while the 8-4 Dragons sit fourth. Bendigo earlier beat Sandringham 11.13 (79) to 8.10 (58) in round six.
