ARC Cafe Connexions is the latest addition to the LQ Market.
The market opened last November as a space for creative people and businesses to show off wares.
The market’s co-owner Lisa Boland said the new cafe was the perfect addition to the space, with local group A Reasonable Christianity using it as a launching pad for anyone wanting to gain skills in food handling, customer service and barista training.
“Right now volunteering here we have a mum who has small children. She wants to get back into the work force when her children are older,” Mrs Boland said.
“We also have a lady who is profoundly deaf and a couple of younger people who want some skills to get a job later on.”
The cafe opened late last month.
Mrs Boland said all money raised would go to ARC’s ‘Not just Soup’ soup kitchen, mentoring programs and towards supporting communities in Africa.
