RECOGNITION: VACC executive director Geoff Gwilym congratulates principal dealers Scott and Stewart Innes on the family business' 90-year membership with the VACC.

One of Australia’s oldest family-run businesses has received special recognition by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.

Innes Motors was recognised as a 90-year member of the VACC on Friday.

“It’s very exciting. This is a family business that has been going 90 years,” Stewart Innes said.

Stewart Innes’s grandfather started the business before handing it down to his sons Les and Arthur.

Stewart and his wife Marilyn then took it over before their son Scott began managing it.

“There wouldn’t be a lot of businesses that are fourth generation,” Stewart said.

“There’s not really a secret to it. You just need the ability to be able to get on with people and most importantly, have good people around you. That’s been the case for us.”
