Bendigo’s art scene continues to draw visitors from far afield, with the La Trobe Art Institute hosting 60 students from Mildura.
Year nine to 12 students from Red Cliffs Secondary College undertook a five-hour bus journey to view the latest LAI exhibitions with public program coordinator Dr Karen Annett-Thomas.
Students learned about abstraction before working in the galleries and courtyards to produce their own drawings and collages.
The workshops aim to achieve more than sparking curiosity, creativity and a love of art in students.
They form part of a broader initiative by La Trobe's Schools Partnership Program to inspire aspirations for higher learning.
Students heard about the various career opportunities in the arts industry from Benita Murray, La Trobe University Master of Education student (and member of the LAI casual team) and Edwina Combe, a third year La Trobe University creative arts student.
