The Saints head to the inter-league weekend break at 0-5.
But there have been encouraging signs for Gray, who is in his first season as coach of the Saints, after guiding Kilmore to its first A-grade netball premiership in 27 years last season.
They include a promising performance against top three contender Leitchville-Gunbower on the weekend.
A seven goal loss was the second time this season the Saints have been beaten by less than 10 goals.
Despite a nine goal losing streak, stretching back to round 14 last season, Grey said the Saints have had no problem in staying upbeat.
"We were always in the game on Saturday, (but) it's always been one quarter that has let us done, except obviously against White Hills and Colbinabbin," he said.
"At this stage we just need to rectify that one quarter and we'll start winning games.
"The team has come together really well, all the girls are starting to gel and believe in themselves.
"That's the main thing I am trying to get across to them that they are capable of winning a game of netball."
Midcourter Brittany Lindsay continued her strong work rate with another solid game for the Saints on Saturday, and was well supported by Tyler McKeown.
The Saints meet Mount Pleasant on May 20 before a showdown with fellow winless team Elmore on May 27.
"It doesn't matter who we are coming up against, we are going out to win," Gray said.
