A nail-biting game at Mitiamo Recreation Reserve ended in a 53-52 triumph for Pyramid Hill.
It was the Bulldogs' most impressive win since their remarkable 2015 season grand final victory.
They led by as much as seven goals during the final quarter before the Superoos produced one last gasp comeback only to come up one goal short.
It was a tense final few minutes for Bulldogs coach Deb Forster, who had earlier watched the B-grade team she also coaches, give up a 15 goal lead at three quarter time to win by three goals in similar dramatic circumstances.
"It was goal-for-goal there for a while after we led by seven, I was on my feet for sure." she said.
"I still think that we didn't play our best, so that's exciting to know we played the top team and we can get better.
"But it's certainly given the girls a lot of confidence that they can match it with the top team."
The Bulldogs were well served in defence by best-on-court Abbey Dingwall and Kate Burton.
"The combination of Kate and Abbey was tremendous, they got a few turnovers and we got goals out of those turnovers," Forster said.
"Their defence was spot-on."
The Bulldogs entered the game fresh after a bye last round.
They will have a further week's rest next week courtesy of the inter-league weekend, with coach Forster hopeful it was not too much of a disruption to her team's momentum.
The second-year coach could not speak more highly of the Superoos, who were brave in defeat.
"They are a great team - and it was a good clean game," she said.
"Their goaling was spot on, they are a beautiful team to watch and great to play against, and they're a very fit team."
Despite their loss, the Superoos maintained top position on the ladder, level on five wins after six games with Bridgewater, who defeated Calivil United 54-37.
A top three clash against Newbridge awaits the Mean Machine after the break.
Cara Bastian notched her second win as coach of Bears Lagoon-Serpentine, as the Bears defeated Inglewood 52-38.
The loss leaves the Blues as the only team without a win, while the Bears jumped to seventh on the ladder.
Marong followed up its breakthrough win from last round with another solid effort against Maiden Gully YCW, albeit in a seven goal loss.
The Eagles won 49-42 to cling to fifth placed ahead of Calivil United, with both teams on two wins, three losses.
