Second-year import Chante Black touched down in Bendigo this week and will play her first games of the 2017 season this weekend during the Lady Braves' tough Tasmanian road double.
Black, who recently finished a stint in the Israeli national league, said she was excited to be back in Bendigo.
The 31-year-old former top 10 WNBA draft pick steps into a team in considerably better shape to the one she did on her arrival mid-season in 2016.
The Lady Braves sit atop the SEABL south conference with a 5-1 record.
"(The Lady Braves) are doing great, I hope I don't upset that," Black said.
"Hopefully I can come in and contribute well to the team and hopefully keep that momentum going and win a lot more games."
Black was one of the real finds of the 2016 SEABL season, averaging 18.9 points and a team-high 11.8 rebounds in 15 appearances.
She enters this campaign with a lot more basketball under her belt, after he initial stint came on the back of a two-year break from the game.
"I think it's still a work in process with me, I'm a lot older and I thought my body would smash back quicker," Black said.
"As a basketball player I always want to continue to improve on a lot of different aspects in my game.
"I would say 'yes, I'm in a little better shape than when I last came here to Bendigo', but I still have a lot of work to do."
While her WNBL stint with the Melbourne Boomers did not pan out as she anticipated, Black said the experience was nevertheless enjoyable and a great chance to develop her game.
The former Duke University standout, who spent four seasons in the WNBA with three teams, is the Lady Braves' second import this season.
Black joins new teammate Ashley Rininger, who is averaging 13.6 points and six rebounds in five games.
Coach Jonathon Goodman said he was looking forward to see how his American pair would team against the Launceston Tornadoes and Hobart Lady Chargers this weekend.
"We've never had two legitimate bigs in the group before and now we have two legitimate starters playing alongside each other," he said.
"I think we are going to be a match-up headache for everybody.
"This pushes (Chloe) Bibby and (Carlie) Smith, who are respectively 6'1" and 6'2", to the perimeter.
"Hopefully that will cause a lot of match up headaches for the opposition, but at the same time its going to cause us a lot of headaches just trying to get people into the right position to score."
