The War Heritage Roadshow, a Victorian government initiative delivered by the University of Melbourne Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, will bring preservation and conservation experts to town to examine pieces of war memorabilia.
It is hoped the show will help preserve Australia’s wartime history.
“This roadshow will help families look after war memorabilia that has been passed down through the generations and to better understand the stories behind them,” Grimwade Centre director Professor Robyn Sloggett said.
Professor Sloggett said this included not only items from those who served, but memorabilia from the home front and peace movements.
She said it was also important to think about modern war memorabilia, such as emails and Facebook posts.
The roadshow will be held at St Paul's Anglican Cathedral on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29.
