Thomas tops Gully awards

Greg Thomas was crowned club champion at Golden Gully Cricket Club’s presentation night.

Thomas’ season was one of the main reasons why the Cobras won the Emu Valley Cricket Association division one premiership.

Thomas made 619 runs at an average of 47.62 to win the batting aggregate and he took out the club champion award with 769 points.

One of the other highlights of the night was the presentation of life membership to Brendon Lummis.

Division 1: Batting Aggregate – Greg Thomas 619 runs at 47.62.

Bowling Aggregate – Brad Webster 21 wickets at 11.67.

Club Champion – Greg Thomas 769 points.

Division 2: Batting – Ben Henson 403 runs at 30.96.

Bowling -  Brendon Lummis 19 wickets at 15.16.

Division champion – Ben Henson 493 points.

Division 3: Batting (tied) -  Will Stewart 155 runs at 17.22 and Kyle Harris 155 runs at 15.50.

Bowling - no qualifier (15 wickets minimum).

Division champion – Leigh Halliwell 329 points.

Other club awards: Most dismissals – Ben Henson (18).

Coaches award – Brad Smith.

Best under-21 player – Kansas Varker.

Best player in finals – Greg Thomas.

Club person of the year – Shirley Wallis.

2016/17 centurions – Greg Thomas 129 in division 1 v Emu Creek.

Six wickets or better in an innings – Leigh Halliwell 6/15 in division 3 v Mandurang Colts.
