THE City of Greater Bendigo has advertised online 10 executive management positions as part of an internal restructure.
Five of the positions are vacant, and it is understood five managers will have to re-apply for their jobs.
The vacancies include manager of active and healthy lifestyles, manager of business services, manager of the project management office, manager of waste services and manager of tourism and major events.
The council is also seeking people to fill the management roles in business transformation, financial strategy, governance, safe and healthy environments and strategy, economy and environment.
The restructure is in response to “significant change” taking place in the local government sector, but the council could not put a figure on the number of positions that could be lost.
The revisions come into effect on July 3, and a total of 21 managerial roles will be available with the council.
A number of directors resigned from the council in 2016, leading the council to reduce their directorates from five to four.
Last week, council chief executive officer Craig Niemann said the restructure “intends to build on our successes and the organisation’s capacity to operate effectively in a rate capping environment”.
