Macro Micro is influenced by Pam’s fascination with Google Earth and Jo’s interest in looking at things on a microscopic level.
The two third year students share a studio space at the university.
“Pam suggested the initial application to exhibit here,’” Jo said.
“We work together a lot. Because we share a studio space, we tend to bounce ideas off each other any way.
“But we didn’t collaborated last year, so we used the semester break to work together.”
Pam said aesthetically the being able to zoom in and out of Google maps and close-up, microscopic angles were very similar.
“We had some stuff from last year but created a lot of new works for this,” she said..
“Jo took my prints and added to them to make them different.
“It has been great getting into a space like this. It forces you to think about how you’re presenting your work.
“You also learn so much about how to exhibit with the help you get from the gallery staff.”
Macro Micro is on from April 6 to 27 at the Phyllis Palmer Gallery at La Trobe University, Bendigo. The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
