A LONGER and later kitten season has seen a boom in the number of cats entering RSPCA shelters across the state, including in Bendigo.
To help these felines find a home, the organisation is reducing its adoptions fees for four days, starting Thursday, April 6.
At least 400 cats will be urgently seeking a home during the promotion, with some having spent more than 220 days in a shelter.
The RSPCA currently has more than 1400 cats and kittens in its care, including those undergoing rehabilitation, receiving vet treatment, in foster care, and up for adoption.
In Bendigo, there are about 80 felines waiting to be adopted.
It is the second time the promotion has run this year, with 288 cats adopted in the January campaign.
Until Sunday, cats aged four months or older will be available for adoption for $39, down from the usual $120.
The cost to adopt a kitten will drop from $195 to $99 during the four days.
The local RSPCA shelter is at 20 Pipers Lane, East Bendigo.
