Taylor won the BDCA’s Bill Stephenson Trophy for the second time on Wednesday night, finishing with a flurry of votes over the final four rounds to overhaul Craig Howard (Sandhurst) and Andrew Smith (Eaglehawk).
Taylor polled 16 votes, finishing one ahead of Howard and Smith, who earned 15 each and had been joint leaders going into the final round.
A further vote back on 14 was the duo of Kangaroo Flat captain Brent Hamblin and Golden Square’s Scott Trollope.
Of Taylor’s 16 votes, he polled 12 in the final four rounds with a quartet of three vote games during the period in which he became the first BDCA player since 1961-62 to take at least five wickets in four-straight first XI games.
