When the team at Chitticks Bakery came up with a new recipe for a pork and fennel sausage roll 16 months ago, little did they know it would be an award-winning creation. But at the Baking Association of Australia awards in Shepparton, Chitticks’ creation was named the Victorian sausage roll of the year. It followed up with a second place in the fruit and nut loaf category. Both items are sold exclusively at Chitticks’ artesian pop-up shop, the Hopkins River Bakery, in Kepler Street.
Chitticks Bakery operations manger Wally Steere said he was thrilled with the result.
“There were bakeries from all over Victoria so it was great to win,” Mr Steere said.
