Campbells Creek Bowls Club celebrated a first in last week’s Bendigo Bowls Division midweek pennant grand finals.

The Campbells Creek team defeated Harcourt in the division four grand final to claim its first premiership in the Bendigo-based competition.

Campbells Creek’s last premiership was in 1997-98 when competing in the  Castlemaine District Ladies Bowling Association.

That competition disbanded in 2000 and the club has competed in the midweek Bendigo competition since.

Campbells Creek finished runner-up in its first year in the Bendigo competition, but hadn’t tasted premiership success until last week.

The grand final winning squad included Betty Tonkin, Helen Wilson, Val Ellis, Val Case, Meg Ross, Mary Harding, Ross Warner, Janice Leech, Nola McLean, David Boyer, Maureen Harris, Lorna Gannaway.
