A woman aged in her 20s was inside a house on Rossdale Drive when she heard a back door opening about 3.50pm.
Police say the man opened a side gate of the property and walked to the rear, before entering the house and looking through a wardrobe and en suite in the master bedroom.
The woman called out to the intruder, thinking it was a family member, before he left through the same back door and the victim heard the sound of a motorcycle starting.
Investigators believe the man rode away from the premises and a motorcycle was seen shortly afterwards travelling east along Simpsons Road before turning right on to McClelland Drive.
No one was injured during the incident and police do not believe anything was taken from the house.
The man is described as being of large build and was wearing a singlet at the time.
The motorcycle is described as black with a carbon fibre pattern on it.
