St John of God Bendigo raised $1000 for Bendigo’s Horizon House group at a lunch last week.
Meanwhile St John’s staff donated 12 big containers of household items, including doonas, sheets, towels, rugs and toys. Bunnings donated a six-seat outdoor setting.
Horizon House acting support coordinator Pam Biggins said the donations came as the group prepared to open a new home for young mothers and their babies later this year.
“We aren’t at the point of furnishing the new house yet, but a lot of this stuff is for the new mums and bubs,” she said.
“We’ve got to go through these boxes and decide what we will put in the (existing Bendigo) Horizon House and what we will save for the new place.”
