First he took The X Factor crown, now Echuca-Moama teen Isaiah Firebrace is favourite to represent his country in the world’s biggest singing contest.
Bookmakers have Firebrace, 17, as their top pick to be Australia’s Eurovision contestant for 2017.
Firebrace has publicly expressed interest in taking part in the televised singing contest, in which 43 countries will perform this year.
He is also signed to record label Sony, to which previous representatives Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Dami Im are also contracted.
Im took Australia to second place in 2016, falling just a few points short of the winner, Ukraine’s Jamala.
The 2017 competition will take place between May 9 and 13 in Kyiv.
Firebrace could also sing his The X Factor winner’s single, It’s Gotta Be You, at Eurovision.
Competition rules state a contestant’s song cannot be released earlier than the September before the show; It’s Gotta Be You was released in November immediately after his X Factor success.
Should Firebrace not get the nod from broadcaster SBS, The Veronicas, Samantha Jade and Nathaniel Willemse are also picked as front-runners to sing for Australia.
The Eurovision Song Contest turns 61 this year and is responsible for launching the careers of ABBA, Celine Dion and bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst.
Australia’s 2017 entrant and their song will be announced tomorrow night.
