Save the Moolort Plains spokeswoman Marg Lewis said she was pleased with the outcome but noted there was no guarantee the decision would not be reversed.
“Of course we’re cautiously pleased because the applicant now has the opportunity to appeal the decision to [the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal],” she said.
Ms Lewis said the majority of the residents concerns related to odour and noise they expected to be generated by the farm.
“This would just be a cumulative effect and give us more odour and there is some concern around traffic and the roads, and like me, most people have got general concerns around the environmental issues,” she said.
The decision comes less than a week after the residents group began the process of appealing a Supreme Court decision to green light a similar farm in Baringhup.
