UPDATE 1pm: In a statement, City of Greater Bendigo CEO Craig Niemann said any further changes to staffing would not be confirmed until after the end of the consultation period.
“In 2016 the city began a restructure process. Following the resignation of some directors, the organisation went from five directorates to four,” he said.
“On Thursday a proposed organisation structure focusing on changes within the directorates will be released to staff for comment.
“Any changes to staffing cannot be confirmed until a final structure is released following the staff consultation period.”
EARLIER: The City of Greater Bendigo is considering a further staff reshuffle after the city’s five director positions were consolidated into four roles midway through last year.
The proposed changes will be announced to staff in the coming days, with a three-week consultation process to follow.
During the previous shakeup, the city’s chief executive officer Craig Niemann ruled out job cuts, with staff from the obsolete units redeployed to fit within the four rebranded directorates.
At the time, Mr Niemann said the structural changes came in an “environment of rate capping” that was “likely” to continue, indicating the move could be a first step.
“[It’s] important that our organisation going forward be agile, adaptable and flexible to respond to future changes,” he said.
It is unclear whether any job losses will follow the latest restructure.
